IRENA DUMICZ

Irena has been studying flamenco across Canada as well as with prominent teachers in Jerez de La Frontera and Seville, Spain. Between 2007-09 Irena served on the Atlantic Flamenco Festival Board, while performing with Maria Osende Flamenco Company in Halifax, NS. Recipient of 2010 Canada Council for The Arts Grant she regularly returns to Spain to study flamenco dancing and singing. She has been involved in creation of Flamenco Society of Edmonton (founding member) and was voted in as a Board Member in October 2015. Committed to purity and traditions of Flamenco Art, Irena integrates baile (dance) and cante (singing) in her artistic endeavours.  She is currently both teaching and performing flamenco in Edmonton and other cities in Canada.

JEN DUNFORD
Jen is a recent BFA graduate from Simon Fraser University. She is an avid artist with focus in dance and theatre. She attended the professional training program under Rosario Ancer (Flamenco Rosario) and is the current flash mob coordinator for the Edmonton Flamenco Festival. Her mission is to preserve cultural legacies through the practice of performance. She is committed to the perpetuation of knowledge via art, community and dance. She is also a passionate Métis jigger and flamenco dancer.

 

CARMEN LOCKE 
Carmen got interested in Flamenco after her sister sugested they take introductory class through continiuing education. She loves the beauty and complexity of the style, and the challenge of combining the dance with guitar, song, and percussion. There is always more to learn in Flamenco!!! 
SUSAN MacGREGOR

Susan MacGregor has studied flamenco for the past fifteen years under various teachers in the Edmonton area, as well as world-renowned instructors from Spain and elsewhere. She has also taught flamenco at the beginner's level. A novelist as well as a dancer, she writes about gypsies, flamenco, and the Spanish Inquisition in an alternate Spain set in 1550 (The Tattooed Witch, The Tattooed Seer, and The Tattooed Queen - forthcoming, Five Rivers Publishing, Amazon, Kobo, and other venues). When she was asked to put her name forward for the new Flamenco Society of Edmonton Board, she was happy to be voted in as a Board member. Susan dances, performs, and writes in Edmonton.
